Keeping staff and members safe

CHECKING INTO THE CLUB UPON ARRIVAL

  • If you are attending a class in the studios you do not need to check in at Reception as a roll call will be taken by the Instructor to help with social distancing.

  • There will be markers by the entrance to remind people to keep 2 metres apart when checking in at Reception.

  • Membership cards to be self-swiped on the card reader to check in at Reception.

  • Members should scan the NHS Test and Trace poster at Reception and the entrance to the Studios.

 

SOCIAL DISTANCING, ONE WAY TRAFFIC & FACEMASK

  • Whilst facemasks are not compulsory Members are encouraged to wear them in more less socially distanced places such as Reception, corridors and toilets’

  • To aid social distancing, some fire exits will be open for Members leaving the Club so not to have a pinch point at Reception upon arriving or leaving the Club, and directional signs will be displayed throughout the Club.

  • This will enable a better flow/one-way system and although this may not eliminate all potential circumstances, Members are asked to use a common sense approach to social distancing.

  • The upstairs fitness areas may use the right hand side conservatory fire exit leading to the car park.

  • The lower gym may use the fire exit leading to the car park.

  • Staff will monitor the effectiveness of the above on a regular basis.

RECEPTION AND DRINKS/SNACKS/ACCESSORIES

  • Reception will have clear Perspex around the Reception desk to protect Members and Staff.

  • Drinks/snacks/Accessories will only be served at the far end of the Reception desk to aid social distancing with one Member at a time. Drinks will be served in take away cups.

  • Payment by card or drinks voucher only.

CLUB HYGIENE/CLEANING

  • Extra hand gel/paper towels/sanitiser will be available throughout the Club.

  • Members are required to wipe down any equipment used before and after use and take reasonable personal responsibility when taking part in physical activity.

  • Staff will be regularly cleaning all high-touch contact points throughout the Club and extra hours are being allocated to cleaning.

  • Posters will be displayed throughout the Club to promote good hygiene/cleaning/social distancing.

CHANGING ROOMS/SHOWERS/TOILETS

  • Posters will be displayed around the Club to promote social distancing.

  • Some Lockers will still be available but please sanitise your hands before and after touching the key.

  • Hand sanitiser will be available in the changing rooms and should be used especially when using hairdryers/touch points such as door handles.

  • Members are requested to be as quick as possible when using the showers/changing rooms especially after classes.

NOTE:  The changing rooms should only be used is absolutely necessary. Members are strongly encouraged to change and shower at home to avoid congestion.

GYM FLOORS

  • In the Resistance, Cardio, Free Weights and Stretch areas extra social distancing signage will be in place and there will be a maximum number of people allowed at any one time, which will be clearly indicated and monitored by the gym staff on a regular basis.
  • The ground floor conservatory will initially be used as a stretch area (with some cardio equipment to create another exercise room) allowing the present upstairs stretch area to be used to accommodate the spacing out of cardio equipment.

  • Members are requested to try and visit during OFF PEAK times when the Club is normally less busy. The busiest times tend to be Monday- Wednesday 6-8pm and weekends between 9am -Noon.

STUDIOS/CLASSES

  • Class sizes may be reduced to allow for social distancing and it is imperative that cancellations are received with at least 24 hours’ notice.

  • Please check the class times on the website regularly as classes may change due to demand and the need to space out classes.

  • There will be 10 minutes between classes to ensure no waiting around in groups and some classes will be shorter to allow for this and the cleaning of the equipment.

  • Any equipment/mats that are used are to be cleaned before and after use by the Member. Members are encouraged to bring their own equipment, such as mats.

  • No need to check in at Reception as the Instructor will take a roll call.

  • If weather permits some classes may be held outside to allow more participants.

  • Due to social distancing there may be only one Receptionist taking booking so please be patient when calling.

  • There will be a limit of one class per day unless there is a space on the day. 

 

SWIMMING POOL/SAUNA/STEAM/CHILDREN

  • Swim England have recommended to be showered and have swimming costumes on before coming to the gym and then showering at home.

  • The single swimming lane will be removed when aqua classes are on. Please check Aqua times, especially at weekends. 

  • Equipment to be cleaned before and after use by the Member under the supervision of the Instructor.

  • The pool will have 3 lanes at all times (apart from kids swimming/aqua Classes) with fast and medium/slow signage to promote social distancing, with a maximum of 4 people in each lane.

  • Children should be swim ready and should avoid using the changing rooms. 

  • The Sauna and Steam room will be open with a limit of 3 people, and members are asked to be considerate if other members are waiting. 
     

CONSERVATORY/F&B

 

  • The conservatory will be used mainly as a stretch area to allow cardio equipment to be more evenly spaced for social distancing and Members are requested to use the outside tables to have their drinks especially during the summer months.

  • We have erected a marquee that can be used during inclement weather. 

  • The new River Club café with indoor seating is also available. 

 

TOWELS

  • Members are requested to bring their own towels as towels will not be provided, in order to prevent cross contamination. 

  • Personal towels are not to be taken into the gym or studios.

PERSONAL TRAINING/GYM INDUCTIONS

  • Personal training will be allowed with social distancing in place and personal trainers can be contacted via The River Club website.

  • Gym inductions on a 1-2-1 basis will be held in a separate area and masks provided.

 

TENNIS/GOLF

  • Golf and Tennis will be allowed but equipment will not be provided.

  • Tennis can be played in accordance with the latest government guidelines.

 

BEAUTY BE MINE/ BODY MECHANICS/BOOTCAMP

  • Please check the individual websites, which can be accessed through theriverclub.co.uk website, for further information on opening times.

 

GUESTS

  • Guests are allowed but must be accompanied by the member who must ensure the guest follows club procedures.
